How to Write 娘 (niáng) — Meaning “mother”

Think of a mother (娘) as a "good woman": the left side 女 means woman and the right side 良 means good. You can imagine a woman holding a heart (the shape of 良) to symbolize her goodness. This mnemonic directly links the character's parts to its meaning of "mother."

When writing 娘, the left radical 女 changes its third stroke from a horizontal to a rising stroke (提) to make space for the right part.
