How to Write 腼 (miǎn) — Meaning “shy / bashful”

Imagine a shy person covering their face (面) with both hands, and the left side 月 looks like a curved hand or cheek. You can think: 'When someone is shy, their face (面) turns red like meat (月).' This visual link between the face and the meat radical helps recall the meaning.

The left radical 月 should be slightly narrower, with its vertical stroke and two horizontal strokes evenly spaced.
