How to Write 郡 (jùn) — Meaning “prefecture / commandery”

Picture a ruler (君) standing beside a city wall (阝) to govern the area — that area is a prefecture (郡). You can also remember the phrase 'the jun prefecture' where jun sounds like 君, the ruler of that city region.

Write the left radical 阝 first — it is two strokes: a horizontal curve then a vertical hook, followed by a vertical line.
