How to Write 辆 (liàng) — Meaning “Measure word for vehicles”

Imagine a car (车) that has exactly 'two' (两) wheels — but actually cars have four wheels! The funny mismatch helps you recall that the right side is 两. Picture a tiny car with only two wheels, and you'll never forget the character 辆.

The left radical 车 should be written narrower, with its last vertical stroke going straight down. On the right side, 两 has two small '人' shapes inside, but students often write them too big or forget the top horizontal stroke. Keep the right side balanced and slightly taller than the left.

辆 is a common measure word for vehicles, while 毂 (gǔ) means the hub of a wheel and 軎 (wèi) refers to the metal cap on the end of an axle. Visually, 辆 has the simpler right side 两, but 毂 has a more complex right part with 殳, and 軎 has the top radical 艹. You will almost never need to write 毂 or 軎 in daily Chinese.
